Carol Feller’s KAL – Mossy Way Sweater Clues 1, 2, and 3!

LoveKnitting |

We’re excited to announce this exclusive LoveKnitting KAL from celebrated knitwear designer Carol Feller! Made with the beautiful The Yarn Collective Bloomsbury DK, this is one you’ll definitely want to take part in!

Get yourself ready for the cooler season with the perfect sweater. This sweater is oversized for a relaxed fit that has just the right amount of detail. The sweater starts at the centre of the yoke and then is worked out in both directions with shaping in the ribbing. The body is then worked from the top down.

Carol will be releasing new video tutorials every other week beginning October 20th to teach you the techniques, and she’ll also be providing support for any questions you might have in the Yarn Collective Ravelry Group.

As an added bonus, with every clue she sends out Carol will include a section on modifications giving hints on how to make minor changes as you go along.

You can download the pattern here, and every time a new clue comes out you can check your LoveKnitting Pattern Library to see what’s next!

You can also see reminders for the new clues on The Yarn Collective’s Instagram feed by following here.

Clue 1: Increasing in Ribbing

As you work across the neck you will need to increase in pattern. I’ve given a sample chart in the pattern notes to help you out and you can also use the video where I talk through the construction.

Clue 1: Decreasing in Ribbing

Decreasing in ribbing can also be tricky and again you’ll find a sample chart showing how this looks in chart form in the pattern notes. Check out the video where I walk you through it step by step.

Clue 2: Picking Up Yoke Stitches

In this clue we’ll be picking up stitches for the left side (from the wrong side of the work!). You can find a video tutorial on this technique above.

Clue 2: Yarn Management

After this side of the yoke is finished you’ll pick up stitches along the bottom for the lower yoke. At this point you might want to think about alternating skeins so that you don’t have problems with pooling from your hand-dyed yarn.

Clue 3: Joining for Body

This clue works on the body; initially you’ll join the body in the round and then work in the round from that point to the bottom.

Clue 3: Alternating Body Skeins

While you are working in the round you’ll need to alternate skeins of yarns if you are using hand-dyed yarn. This video shows a great way of doing this using helical stripes.

Stay tuned for clue 4 on December 1st!
