Help a Fuzzy Friend – Blue Cross for Pets

LoveKnitting |

Calling all crafty, animal lovers. Blue Cross for Pets charity need your knitted baby socks for their fluffy patients’ paws!

Charity Tuesday Help a Fuzzy Friend Blue Cross for Pets

Blue Cross for Pets is an organisation with animal hospitals and shelters across the UK. They take in abandoned and unwanted animals and give them the best care while finding them a perfect forever-home. They also look after ill and injured pets, nursing them back to health and ensuring all the animals “enjoy a healthy life in a happy home”.

Some of the animals who visit the hospital need to undergo surgery and are put under a general anaesthetic. This causes their body temperature to drop, and can slow down their recovery time.

This is where you can help!

Blue Cross have put out a request for little knitted socks to put on the paws of our fluffy friends. By keeping their feet warm, the animals stay toasty while under anaesthetic, having a positive effect on their recovery!

We can’t help but think they’re completely adorable!

If you would like to get involved and knit some socks for the hospital, we have a free sock pattern here, and a free pattern for baby mitts here.

Once you’ve knitted up some socks or mitts, you can take them to the following Blue Cross animal hospitals in The UK:

Grimsby animal hospital

Hammersmith animal hospital

Merton animal hospital

or send them to Blue Cross, 7 Hugh Street, London, SW1V 1QG

If you live in America you can contact the ASPCA to find out where you can send your knits!
