New Video Tutorials – KP Quicks

Here at Knit Picks, we’re starting a series of helpful new video knitting tutorials specifically intended to provide immediate gratification of your knitting instructional needs with direct, no frills tutorials called KP Quicks.

You may be familiar with Knit Picks’ helpful Tutorial site, and we hope you’ve found our longer videos, such as the step-by-step, start-to-finish class for the Go Your Own Way Socks, helpful. There are times, however, when all you need is a quick reminder or to-the-point instructions for a new technique. You don’t want a lot of explanation and exposition, clicking around the video timeline to find where the instructions actually start.

This is exactly the need we want to address with KP Quicks. A pair of hands, a pair of needles, bright and visible worsted weight yarn, and not much else. Forgoing lengthy explanations and digressions, instructions are conveyed with concise titling. Most videos will run just 1 or 2 minutes. You can see exactly what we mean with the first ever KP Quick, demonstrating the Long Tail Cast On:

Although we will cover the basics in a helpful way, we want to mix in a good amount of more advanced tips and tricks, like this video on Cabling Without a Cable Needle (perfect for our recent Woodsmoke Cable Collection):

We will also use this format to provide helpful tutorials for unusual techniques in our patterns, such as the crochet colorwork used in our free Zodiac Crochet Dishcloth Series:

We have every intention of continuing to produce longer, more involved and personable classes. These new video knitting tutorials are only meant to fill in the gaps and give you that little bit of extra help in a concise and accessible way.

We expect to release new KP Quicks most weeks. In addition to our Facebook page, you can find all the KP Quicks in their own playlist on our Youtube channel. They will also make an appearance on the occasional page of our tutorial website to augment our written tutorials.

Let us know if there are any techniques you’d like us to cover, either basic techniques or new tricks you’re interested in learning!
