We love Alice Neal’s Valentine’s Day knit: a pair of love heart socks using two different colourways for the favourite man in your life!
Look closely! These beautiful socks are the perfect match, reversed!
We knitters love to show our love in yarn: it’s a wonderful way to invest love in every stitch! Alice Neal’s gorgeous design is playful and full of affection, at the same time as creating a glorious knitting challenge for the fair isle lovers amongst you. The heart motif is worked in reverse for the second sock, to create a perfectly mismatched pair. The sock ribs are different too, just to illustrate that the differences between us just complement the elements that are a mirror image. A true expression of love!
Knitted using the magic loop method (although if you love your DPNs, that’s absolutely fine too!), Alice’s pattern is easy to follow, including a simple way to increase or decrease the length of the foot. It’s worked on 5mm needles, so these socks won’t take you long to knit!
These gorgeous socks are knitted in The Yarn Collective Pembroke Worsted – a fabulous luxury yarn that has been hand dyed and spun in the hills of Peru. The yarn itself is lofty and full of bounce, deliciously soft and perfect to wear next to the skin. It’s a hand wash yarn, but Alice tells us that she washes her hand knits in Soak, which makes things super easy – just immerse in water and Soak, leave, and drain – there’s no need to rinse! (You can read Alice’s review here!)
What will you be knitting your Valentine?
